Redline was hired to ensure clean audio capture, for the AE Campus Comedy Challenge production tour. A 5-crew production team, driving Suburban 4x4 vehicles across the country...

The tour started February, 9th, 2007 in the Twin Cities (St. Paul & Minneapolis), Minnesota. Finally ending on March 17th, at the Virgina Tech campus. Stops included:

  • Frebruary 9th: University of Minnesota | Minneapolis, MN
  • February 10th: Marquette University | Milwaukee, WI
  • February 12th: James Madison University | Harrisburg, VA
  • February 13th: Kent State | Kent, OH
  • February 20th: Washington State University | Pullman, WA
  • February 22nd: University of Washington | Seattle, WA
  • March 2nd: University of South Florida | Tampa, FL
  • March 5th: University of Rhode Island | Kingston, RI

  • March 13th: Seton Hall | South Orange, NJ
  • March 14th: University of Maryland | College Park, MD
  • March 15th: Virginia Tech | Blacksburg, VA

Each show was captured by 3 Panasonic 24p DVX-100A cameras, Two main center cameras were each receiving 2 external mic inputs (3rd camera floating). After realizing too many house venues had some serious audio issues, a Mackie 4 channel audio mixing board was brought on the road, to travel with us.

Center camera one:

  • 2 x Sennheiser G2 e100 series wireless lavalier kits
  • Used as back-up mics for all student comedians
  • Excellent wireless mic kits for production

Center camera two:

  • PZM (Boundary) omni condenser mic for audience reactions
  • Stage microphone, from stage-to-mixer-to-house PA
  • 2 x Sennheiser mkh shogtun mics
  • Pistol grip shock mount | Zeppelin windscreen
  • Several rolls of paper tape | 150+ ft of xlr cable

Student comedians signed-up, and were picked to compete on stage. To claim the "Crown" for their school, votes were text via cell phone at the end of each show, and a winner moved on to the website bracket, for that region. Online votes were tallied at the end, and the final winners won a trip to Cancun for the Spring Break Finals.
